The 13th Annual Chocolate Lovers' Fest at the Apostolic Restoration Center in Genoa was a sweet success. Hundreds of people gathered on February 10th to indulge in a variety of chocolate treats. The festival, inspired by popular Food Network shows, featured high-quality homemade chocolate delights and will be returning for its 14th year in 2025.

The festival, organized by Jennifer Widmer, was initially conceived as a fundraiser for the church and school. Over the years, it has grown in popularity, attracting between 250 to 300 attendees this year. For just $15 per person, guests could savor six different chocolate treats and either enjoy them at the church or take them home in foam containers.

The chocolate treats, all made by talented church and community members, ensured a delectable experience. The 40-foot-long buffet offered an array of chocolate delights, including truffles, brownies, parfaits, cookies, and even a chocolate fountain. With over 40 different options, guests faced the delightful challenge of selecting their favorites.

A Chocolate Paradise for Attendees

Jill Stinebaugh, a loyal festival-goer from Elmore, expressed her excitement, saying, "It's every kind of chocolate you can imagine, it's really good." Having attended the festival for three consecutive years, it's clear that the event holds a special place in the hearts of chocolate lovers.

Jonathan and Melissa Buck, who traveled from Maumee, were first-time attendees drawn to the festival after discovering it online. They were not disappointed. Jonathan couldn't resist the chocolate brownie cheesecake, while Melissa found herself torn between the homemade Snickers bar and the black forest parfait. Both agreed that the chocolate at the festival was of exceptional quality.

Jim and Marsha Barnes from Oak Harbor, also repeat attendees, echoed the sentiment of many other festival-goers. Marsha exclaimed, "We love, love, love it!" Their enthusiasm is a testament to the festival's ability to captivate chocolate enthusiasts.
